DAC member Sarah Lianne Lewis shortlisted for prestigious Eisteddfod prize Medal y Cyfansoddwr

Congratulations to DAC member Sarah Lianne Lewis who has been shortlisted for the prestigious Eisteddfod prize Medal y Cyfansoddwr!

"Following a very popular and competitive open call, Jon Guy, Sarah Lianne Lewis and Owain Gruffudd Roberts have been selected to write for a chamber ensemble from Sinfonia Cymru. They will work with Simmy Singh (violin), David Shaw (violin/viola), Garwyn Linnell (cello) and composer mentor Pwyll ap Siôn in workshops over six months, leading up to a performance at the National Eisteddfod. One of the three composers will be awarded the Medal y Cyfansoddwr and a £750 prize.
Medal y Cyfansoddwr ('The Composer's Medal') is a prestigious flagship music composition prize awarded annually at the National Eisteddfod of Wales. This year, following the success of the partnership with Tŷ Cerdd and Sinfonia Cymru at the 2024 Rhondda Cynon Taf Festival, the compositions written by the composers involved will be performed at the Composer’s Medal Ceremony, held on the main Pavilion stage at the Eisteddfod in Wrecsam. As one of the Eisteddfod's foremost events, the ceremony will take place on Saturday, 9 August, during which the overall winner will be announced and celebrated.
This pathway is delivered by Tŷ Cerdd in partnership with the National Eisteddfod, Sinfonia Cymru and Welsh Music Guild."
